Well the first bit of exciting news was the rescue’s honorary lurcher, Blossom  (who was a feral cat that was going to be killed and was heavily pregnant) so of course I had to step in and she is now residing in an outdoor pen..She  had her 6 most gorgeous kittens….they are true corkers and you can see from the photos how big they are getting already…Blossom is such a brilliant mum and only a young cat herself.

We had FOUR  lurchers come in this month, Roxy the gorgeous brindle 15 week puppy , Jamie the Deerhound x greyhound, dark grey boy, rescued from the pound , Butch the handsome Bull Lurcher and finally Foxy a stunning saluki girlie, saved from the pound…. We also saved a black greyhound boy called Mitch from near death and got him rescue space with The Retired Greyhound Trust…

So a wee fundraiser at the Welwyn Garden City Campus happened on the 7th of June, a huge thank you to Helen Starbuck who came down and assisted and also Penny Shephard who dog sat for the day to allow this to happen. We raised over £200 which was fab and went straight into the field project.

On the 27th June we were proud to accept our International Visitors from HurttaHelppi ,  a wonderful Finnish organisation that donated the electrical side of things for the kennel project…So Hanna Vartiainen and her friend Rinna were treated to some serious lurcher loving !! Was lovely too meet them and show them around and see first hand what a major difference the donation made to the kennels. It was also of course, great too chat over rescue stories and our love for podencos as well . The dogs and myself were also spoilt with goodies, so in all a fab day !!
Come see their site….http://www.hurttahelppi.fi/
